December 4 ADVENT

Day 4: Freedom and Dependence on God

Title: Advent and the Door to Freedom

Opening Quote:
“A prison cell, in which one waits, hopes – and is completely dependent on the fact that the door of freedom has to be opened from the outside, is not a bad picture of Advent.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Hi, friends!
This powerful quote by Bonhoeffer gives us a vivid image of Advent. Waiting isn’t easy, is it? Sometimes, we feel stuck—like we’re in a prison of worry, doubt, or fear. But Advent reminds us that freedom comes from Jesus, not from our own efforts.

John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” What a promise!

Let’s do this today:
Write down one thing that feels like a prison in your life. Pray about it, asking Jesus to bring His freedom into that space. Then take a deep breath and trust Him to open the door.

Advent is about trusting that the Savior we wait for is also the One who sets us free.
