Valentine’s Day has always struck me as a commercialized holiday—a time when superficial gestures mask deeper wounds. I’ve seen too many instances of men who, after straying in the neon haze of Las Vegas, scramble to patch things up with a last-minute vacation, as if a change in scenery could erase years of neglect. For a long time, these empty displays of affection left me disillusioned, questioning the sincerity of our modern celebrations.
My perspective shifted when I began to reflect on the ultimate act of love: Jesus laying down His life for us. His sacrifice revealed a love that isn’t measured by grand, fleeting gestures, but by a steadfast commitment and selflessness that should define every relationship. In His example, I found a blueprint for what true love should be.
Scripture calls us to a higher standard in our relationships. In Ephesians 5:25, we’re reminded, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” This verse isn’t just an instruction; it’s a challenge—a call to mirror Christ’s unwavering commitment and sacrificial love in our daily lives. It encourages us to value our partners through consistent, thoughtful actions rather than once-a-year celebrations.
For me, real love is found in the everyday moments: sharing a quiet evening at home, supporting one another through life’s ups and downs, and nurturing a bond that goes far deeper than a calendar-marked holiday. It’s about being present, honest, and committed, even when it’s hard. In this light, love is not reserved for a special day—it’s a continuous journey of mutual respect, care, and genuine sacrifice.
This Valentine’s Day, rather than succumbing to the pressures of commercialism, I choose to reflect on the profound lessons of Christ’s love. I’m learning to see every day as an opportunity to practice the kind of love that Scripture calls us to—one that is intentional, enduring, and transformative.
Let’s move past the empty symbols and embrace a love that reflects the depth of Jesus’ sacrifice. In doing so, we honor not only our partners but also the divine example set before us—a love that truly changes lives.
But a Dunkin Donuts Lava Cake Signature Drink is an amazing gesture. Thanks honey
