Friday Throwdown: Big Brother 27 – The Curse of Week 1

Well, Big Brother fans, what a week it’s been in the BB27 house. Following the not-so-surprising (but still shocking) eviction of fan favorite Zach Cornell, the throne has officially been recaptured by the one and only, the Queen herself—Rachel Reilly.

Floaters, better grab a life vest because spoiler alert, Rachel is our new Head of Household, and she’s already sharpening her eviction sword.

The “Week 1 Curse” – Fact or Fiction?

Let’s call this season what it’s been so far: The Curse of Week 1.

It all started with the grand entrance of Mrs. Brendan Villegas, heralded in by the Mastermind’s Assistant herself—Amy (who, of course, was promptly voted out Week 2). Fans speculated that Zae might have been the real Assistant, but his decision to openly come for Rachel was a fatal error.

Rachel’s response? A now-iconic declaration:

“If you come for the Queen, you’re going to get beheaded.”

And just like that, the curse began.

Here’s the running list of casualties from that first fateful week’s HOH lineup and twists:

  1. Zae – Gone before he could build momentum.
  2. Amy – The actual Mastermind’s Assistant and Rachel bestie.
  3. Adrian – Played in the fateful first HOH comp
  4. Jimmy – Won the privilege to pick the first HOH players (only 4 people) and played in it.
  5. Zach – Had a $10K secret power to buy safety before jury and didn’t use it.

If the curse holds true, the next two on the chopping block could very well be Vince Panaro and Ashley Hollis, who both competed in that first HOH. Vince, notably, was the first HOH of the season.

EDITED 8/27/25Houseguest Rylie Jeffries was evicted, but he was suspected of being the Mastermind Accomplice in Week 1 (the majority of HG voted that he was the Mastermind). He was also part of the “Burger Boys” Alliance, but ultimately betrayed them when he voted out Zae to keep Amy, and then lied about it.

Targets & Tension: Rachel’s HOH Strategy

Word on the live feeds is that Rachel’s current target is Vince—who’s already asked her for one thing:

“Don’t backdoor me. Let me play in the Veto for a fighting chance.”

Whether Rachel honors that request remains to be seen. After all, this is Big Brother, not “Let’s All Be Friends.”

Meanwhile, Morgan Pope had the audacity to tell Rachel that they were only keeping Rachel around until jury. Don’t be surprised if a blindside sends Morgan packing instead.

Side Drama – Because No Season Is Complete Without It

While the gameplay has been somewhat repetitive with recycled nominations, we’ve had plenty of eyebrow-raising moments—such as the strange and slightly creepy “showmance” between Rylie and Katherine, and chaos Kelly Jorgenson spinning stories such as “pee-gate”–yes, its actually a thing.

Interactive Corner: Fan Predictions

📊 Poll: Who do YOU think Rachel will nominate this week?

  • Vince Panaro
  • Mickey Lee
  • Morgan Pope
  • A surprise backdoor target (Rylie PLEASE)

💬 Final Thoughts: Love her or hate her, Rachel Reilly knows how to own a season. This HOH reign could either cement her as BB27’s unstoppable Queen or mark the beginning of her downfall. Either way, buckle up because Week 6 is about to get messy.
